A few words from Sangmee, his daugther

My name is Sangmee, and I am Professor Sung-Ik Lee's daughter. As I lived in the United States most of my life, please forgive the fact that this post is in English.

I would like to thank everyone for being such an integral part of my father's life. When I heard the news about my father's death, I rushed to Seoul from Chicago, not knowing what's going on or what to even expect. When I arrived, I thought I would be in a state of shock, disbelief, and overwhelming sorrow. While I definitely felt those emotions, I found myself speechless from the support of my father's friends, family, colleagues and students. Your deep admiration towards my father was invaluable in helping us heal.

I know my father would have wanted all of us to continue our lives with vigor and confidence. And I intend to do so. And each of you helped me realize that. So, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you.
