Physics Activities at the Center for Axion and Precision Physics Research in Korea

The Institute for Basic Science of the Republic of Korea has recently established the Center for Axion and Precision Physics Research (CAPP) in the campus of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in Daejeon. The mission of CAPP is to launch a state of the art axion dark matter experiment in Korea, play a leading role in the proton electric dipole moment experiment, and participate in leading axion, Dark Matter, EDM, muon g-2 etc., experiments around the world, driven by the interests of individual scientists of CAPP. Axions are a leading dark matter candidate with a unique feature: a sensitive experiment can either discover them or exclude their role as dark matter for a specific axion mass range. The progress made as part of the ADMX and other efforts is quite close to achieving this milestone for an axion mass range of 1 to 100 micro-eV. CAPP in Korea plans to build on this experience and help make the final effort to achieve/surpass the required sensitivity.
